Franz Josef Oct 6-8

Hello all! After the pancake rocks the bus made its way to Franz Josef, which is a small town created for people to see the Franz Josef Glacier.

Our first stop on the way was at a lake (I sadly can't remember the name of it) and we got a proper family photo. From left to right: Hannah, Lucy, Marissa, James, Me, Princess, Queenie. It was a beautiful day and we were sad to have to spend most of it on the bus so we ran around quite a bit here and had a lot of laughs!

The following day Lucy and I went on a glacier hike. This was sooo cool! haha no pun intended! We started in the early morning and got all suited up then took a helicopter up to the glacier and hiked around. It was freezing when we were in the shade of the mountains around us. The guide would chip away small steps and other parts we would just use the ice clamps on our boots.

We got to hike through lots of crevasses and holes, it was quite the adventure. On some of the cravasses there was a rope as you can see to the right of my leg since they were pretty steep.

Eventually, we got sunshine and hiked around in just t-shirts! Here is just another view looking to the side of the glacier (I'm in the middle of it).

Here is just part of the beautiful view we got to see. With the mountains all around us, same as much of the south island, it really reminded me of Vermont.

After our big hike, Lucy and I met up with the others and we went to the spa across the road for a nice relaxing night!
Hope you're enjoying the updates, let me know if they're boring you lol I just love remembering everything I did!

Love and miss you all,
Michele
